Miss Young Philippines USA

Ashley Dayuta, 15 years old,  I’ve brought along my free spirit to my volleyball, waterpolo, and swim teams. As a sophomore in Whittier High School, I have maintained a strong Christian faith, and even kept alive the culture and traditions I was raised in. My life in the Philippines has made me extremely grateful for the many opportunities in this new country that have opened my eyes about how extraordinary and diverse this world really is. The recent birth of my brother has taught me how to be responsible and mature, characteristics I believe are valuable. My aspiration to travel has lead me to set a goal of becoming a pilot, which I am planning to accomplish through attending college to earn my bachelors degree in aviation. It pains me to say that in the Philippines, nearly 50% of the children are unable to afford education. Therefore, I would like to advocate for the accessibility of schooling of all youth, in or out of poverty.

Being a recent high school graduate, in the future I hope to maintain my desire of being able to help others by attending Cypress College within this summer and majoring in nursing, I plan to become a registered nurse and achieve my associate’s degree. Participating in this pageant, I hope to set examples within the Filipino American community through the people that aspire to face fears and achieve their goals in the future. As well as discover more about my culture, myself, and my environment.

I am Chasity Jean Mayo Sabas 16 years old, I believe every talent is a gift created within each person for the purpose of uplifting and serving others. I was born and raised in California. When I was 10, I discovered the love for performing when I joined Rising Stars Performing Arts. I studied 2 years of French and going into my fourth year of: Advanced Choir, the ACE (Active Catholic) Club, Key Club and Hip Hop Club in which I serve as the secretary. As a dancer I have performed with the Birit Queens, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid and will be performing with Ariel Rivera in July. Born into a large Filipino/Mexican family, I have learned early that “family” is the most important part of life. My love of “family” is what inspired me to enter into the world of pageantry. I believe that friends are like family. My life- long friend’s affliction with suicide pulled me towards this cause and the need to raise awareness in young adults. I quickly realized that the best way to help was to get involved in a cause that gives young girls like myself a voice to speak and educate on this matter. I am committed to using my God-given talents, to nurture and empower those in need. My heart’s greatest desire is to serve and speak out for the voiceless and oppressed worldwide in hope that I can nurture the desires in the hearts of others and birth them into greater possibilities.
